Keep Moving Forward

Accept yourself, love yourself, and keep moving forward. If you want to fly, you have to give up what weighs you down. When life gets really tough, many people get stuck or lose their momentum. They suffer from fear, self-doubt, and other negative feelings. To get past obstacles in your way, you must fully acknowledge the problem and have a strong, motivating reason to keep moving forward. You also have to change any unrealistic expectations. Life is about accepting the challenges along the way, choosing to keep moving forward, and savoring the journey.

Let Go of Past Expectations

Realize that life is oftentimes unfair. Know that things can and often will change. Accept that many things are out of your control. Let go of past expectations and work positively toward making the best of bad situations. There will be a lot of times in life when you’ll expect a good outcome, hit an obstacle, and then find that you’re going to have to create a new plan. Revise your expectations when it’s necessary. When things change, pivot to a new plan to deal with the unexpected change in the best way possible. Just keep pushing forward.

Living your best life and how to let go of the past

When you’re stuck in the past, you aren’t living your life in the moment, meaning you certainly aren’t living your best life. One way you can focus on letting go of the past is to practice mindfulness. Mindfulness is all about being in the here-and-now, observing each moment as it comes without judgment. Easier said than done, I know. But practice makes perfect! Mindfulness will also help you reduce anxiety and gain mental clarity – both of which will help you keep moving forward and live life in the moment.

Instead of dwelling on the past, focus on what you want right now. Letting go of the past allows you to tap into what you want now, which will lead you to be inspired to find your true purpose and passion in life at this moment. The past is irrelevant. What matters is the now. Do what you want now – what brings you pleasure, what fulfills your desires, what brings you closer to your goal. If you don’t know how to let go, you don’t know how to live your best life. So take a deep breath and just let go.

Don’t Avoid Obstacles

Many people avoid that daunting obstacle by either denying that it’s a big problem or purposely downplaying its significance. They usually do this because they don’t believe they can solve the problem, or they realize how much work it will take to overcome it. Don’t stick your head in the sand and just hope it gets better. Avoiding problems generally makes them worse because small problems now will oftentimes become bigger and unmanageable later. Other people avoid problems by distracting themselves. They do other things that take their minds away from the painful situation in front of them. Procrastination is another very common reaction to a problem we don’t want to face.

To stop avoiding problems here are some solutions:

  • Accept that there is a problem. Acknowledge it’s there. It can be painful, especially if it’s an emotional issue, but you have to realize there’s something wrong and it needs your attention.
  • Accept that you’re responsible for solving this problem—whether you caused it or not. Don’t waste a lot of time blaming other people or dwelling on how unfair it is. Realize you have to deal with this problem now.
  • Don’t distract yourself with things that take your mind away from the issue.
  • If you find yourself procrastinating, remind yourself that the longer you take to confront the problem, the worse it will get.

Keep Moving Forward, One Step at a Time

Life can be a tough ride. Sometimes it knocks you down for no good reason. There will be strokes of fate and deep hits that will suck the zest for life out of you. It may even get so difficult that all hope seems lost. When you’re confronted with these incredible difficulties, it’s important not to lose hope. Similarly, it’s important not to give up during these times. Life can hit you as hard as it will, if you always get back up again and continue pursuing your goals, it cannot stop you. As you can see, it doesn’t matter so much how unfair life treats you. What matters is that you have the willingness to keep going despite the great challenges.
